DebugView

A real-time GA4 report that shows events from your own test sessions as they arrive, so you can check tracking is working.

In plain English

Find it under Admin, in the Data display section. It only shows devices with debug mode switched on. GTM Preview mode does this automatically, and you can also set the debug_mode parameter.

DebugView shows each event as it arrives with all its parameters, which makes it the best place to confirm GA4 received exactly what GTM sent.

Standard reports can take a day or more to show new data, so check DebugView rather than waiting on the reports.

Example

You add a generate_lead event in GTM, start Preview mode and submit the form. In DebugView the event appears within seconds with form_name: contact, confirming the setup works end to end.
