Who it's for

Build and troubleshoot reliable conversion tracking so your paid campaigns run on accurate data.

  • SEO Specialists

Understand how tracking, data layers and technical implementations interact with the sites you optimise.

  • Account Managers

Scope tracking requirements, talk confidently with clients and spot common implementation issues.

  • Digital Marketing Executives

Build practical GTM and GA4 skills you can apply directly to everyday marketing work.

  • Agency Owners

Grow in-house tracking capability and reduce reliance on developers or outside specialists.

  • In-house Marketing Teams

Take ownership of your own measurement instead of queuing every tracking change with IT.

Why GTM skills matter

Enable better tracking by levelling up your team in Google Tag Manager

Nobody needs Tag Manager for its own sake. It matters because it lets the people running your marketing build and fix tracking themselves, without waiting for a developer.

Launch campaigns with the right tracking in place

Without the skills

Campaigns go live while conversion tracking sits in a developer queue.

With GTM skills

Marketers add and test conversion tags themselves, so tracking is live from day one.

Fix broken tracking in hours, not weeks

Without the skills

A tag stops firing and nobody can say why, or who should fix it.

With GTM skills

Preview mode and Tag Assistant show exactly what is firing, so problems are found and fixed quickly.

Trust the numbers in your reports

Without the skills

Duplicate events and missing conversions quietly distort reporting.

With GTM skills

Clean, documented tags mean the data behind your decisions is data you can rely on.

Brief developers clearly when you do need them

Without the skills

Vague tracking requests lead to rework and delays.

With GTM skills

Marketers who understand the data layer write specifications developers can build once.

Why upskill

Why upskill your junior team members in Tag Manager?

Junior staff often do the day-to-day tracking work. A solid grounding in Tag Manager makes them useful sooner and speeds up everything else they learn.

  • Productive sooner

Juniors who understand tags, triggers and data layers can handle routine tracking tasks themselves instead of queuing for a senior colleague or a developer.

  • Learning that compounds

Tag Manager sits underneath GA4, Google Ads and your other platforms. Knowing how data is collected makes every other measurement skill easier to learn and to trust.

  • More confidence, fewer escalations

Knowing how to test and debug tracking means fewer "is this right?" questions and fewer small mistakes reaching live accounts.

  • A skill that raises their value

Technical measurement skills set juniors apart early, lift their contribution and give you a clear path to developing them.

Practical outcomes

Leave able to do the work, not just describe it.

The training focuses on what your team will actually do in Tag Manager and GA4 once the session is over.

  • Implement and manage Google Tag Manager containers with confidence.
  • Set up and test GA4 events and conversions using GTM.
  • Understand when and how to use data layers for more advanced tracking.
  • Debug common tracking issues without immediately relying on a developer.
  • Follow a consistent process for implementing, testing and QAing changes.
  • Communicate tracking requirements clearly with clients and developers.

How it works

From first conversation to a confident team.

A simple process that keeps the training relevant to the work your team is already doing.

  1. Talk through your setup

A short conversation about your team, your current tracking setup and the problems you want to solve.

  2. Tailor the session

Content is shaped around your team's experience level and the kinds of accounts you manage.

  3. Train hands-on

In-person exercises in GTM and GA4 using realistic scenarios, not just slides.

  4. Apply it to real work

Your team leaves with a repeatable process for planning, testing and publishing tracking changes.

The obvious question

Can't we just let the team learn it on the job?

It's a fair question, and plenty of teams start there. Here's where it usually falls short.

  1. It's slow, and it's patchy.

Someone works out how to fire one tag, and that becomes the pattern everyone copies. Gaps stay hidden until a report looks wrong, by which time the data is already affected.

  2. Bad habits spread.

Without a grounding in triggers, variables and data layers, workarounds get built on workarounds. Containers fill with duplicate tags, unclear names and tracking nobody trusts.

  3. Your best person becomes the bottleneck.

Self-taught knowledge usually sits with one or two people. When they're busy or move on, everyone else waits and the know-how leaves with them.

  4. Mistakes cost real data.

A broken conversion tag or a doubled-up GA4 event quietly skews reporting and ad optimisation, sometimes for weeks before anyone notices.

A day of structured, hands-on training gives the whole team the same foundations, so learning on the job builds on solid ground instead of guesswork.

There’s a half-day workshop (3–4 hours), a full-day workshop (6–7 hours) or a custom format built around your team. Get in touch and we’ll recommend the best fit.
