In plain English

A handful are switched on by default, including Page URL, Page Path, Page Hostname, Referrer and Event. Others, such as the click and form variables, stay off until you need them.

To switch one on, go to Variables, click Configure in the Built-In Variables section and tick the ones you want.

If a click trigger isn't working, it's often because the click variables it relies on haven't been switched on yet.

Example

To track clicks on a "Book now" button, switch on Click Text, then create a click trigger with the condition Click Text equals Book now.
